"Initiative neue soziale Marktwirtschaft" veröffentlicht so genanntes Bundesländerranking:

Das Ranking des selbsternannten Notengebers enthält keinerlei Nachrichtenwert

Ziel ist es, neoliberale Politik über die Hintertür populärer zu machen.

"Das Ranking des selbsternannten Notengebers enthält keinerlei Nachrichtenwert." So kommentiert Hans Wolf vom Vorstand der Aktion 3.Welt Saar das aktuelle so genannte Bundesländerranking 2011 der "Initiative neue soziale Marktwirtschaft" (INSM), das heute veröffentlicht wurde. Die INSM wurde 2000 vom Arbeitgeberverband Gesamtmetall gegründet. Von diesem erhält sie aktuell über 8 Millionen Euro im Jahr. Ihr Ziel ist es, die Marktwirtschaft im Sinne der Arbeitgeber und der Industrie zu "reformieren". "In meinen Augen ist die harmlos als "Initiative" und als "Nicht-Regierungsorganisation" (NRO) auftretende INSM eine aggressive Lobbyorganisation für Sozialabbau und die Aushöhlung von Tarifverträgen. Unter dem Deckmantel der Reformen propagiert sie einen offenen Marktradikalismus", so Hans Wolf. Mit dem jährlichen Bundesländerranking schwingt sich die INSM ungefragt zum Notengeber über die gesamte Republik auf. Mit der Berichterstattung über das Ranking in möglichst vielen Medien zielt die Arbeitgeber-Initiative darauf, dass ihre neoliberalen Kernbotschaften - weniger Staat, weniger Steuern, weniger Sozialleistungen - möglichst oft wieder gegeben werden.

Neben der Benotung der Bundesländer bewertet sie in anderen "Wettbewerben"  auch Regionen, Städte und Ministerpräsidenten. Parallel dazu lässt sie ihre breit gefächerte Publikationstätigkeit - Anzeigen, Artikel, Broschüren, Magazine, Bücher - von einer großen Publik Relation Agentur koordinieren. Eine wichtige Säule ihrer Außenwirkung sind auch ihre Botschafter und Mitglieder, die in der Öffentlichkeit in Interviews und Talkshows nicht immer als INSM Vertreter erkennbar sind. Zu ihren Botschaftern gehören Christdemokraten wie Lothar Späth, Dagmar Schipanski (bis 2009 Präsidentin des Landtages von Thüringen), der Ex-Grüne Oswald Metzger oder der Sozialdemokrat Erwin Staudt (Präsident des VFB Stuttgart). Auch die wegen ihrer Plagiatsaffaire in der Kritik stehende FDP-Politikerin Silvana Koch-Mehrin ist Mitglied der INSM.
