Erster saarländischer Ministerpräsident Johannes Hoffmann überlebte 2.Weltkrieg als Flüchtling in Brasilien.

Der erste saarländische Ministerpräsident Johannes Hoffmann überlebte als politischer Flüchtling den 2. Weltkrieg in Brasilien. Die ambivalente Rolle Südamerikas als Zufluchtsort für jüdische und politische Flüchtlinge aus Europa aber auch als Unterschlupf für geflohene Nazis vor und nach dem 2. Weltkrieg ist auch Thema der Ausstellung "Die 3.Welt im 2.Weltkrieg". Sie wird noch bis 31. März von der Stiftung Demokratie Saarland, der Aktion 3.Welt Saar und der Heinrich Böll Stiftung Saar in Saarbrücken gezeigt. Im Begleitprogramm zur Ausstellung referiert Gert Eisenbürger von der "Informationsstelle Lateinamerika Bonn" zum Thema "Lateinamerika und Karibik im 2. Weltkrieg": Mittwoch, 16. März, 18 Uhr, Saarbrücken, Stiftung Demokratie Saarland, Bismarckstraße 99.

Adolf Eichmann war nur einer von vielen Nazis, die nach dem 2.Weltkrieg in Südamerika untertauchen konnten. Die so genannte "Rattenlinie" ermöglichte es, hochrangigen Nazis unter Mithilfe der katholischen Kirche aus Europa zu fliehen und mit neuer Identität in Ländern Südamerikas weiter zu leben bzw. unterzutauchen. Umgekehrt waren südamerikanische Länder und die Karibik aber auch Zufluchtsorte für jüdische und politische Flüchtlinge aus Europa. Zusätzlich analysiert der Referent die ökonomischen und militärischen Folgen des Krieges für Süd- und Mittelamerika. Gert Eisenbürger hat zahlreiche Bücher und Artikel über lateinamerikanische Themen publiziert; u.a. das Buch "Lebenswege - 15 Biographien zwischen Europa und Lateinamerika" und zuletzt eine politische Landeskunde zu Uruguay.

Ziel der Ausstellung und des Begleitprogramms ist es, ein differenziertes Bild von der 3.Welt im 2.Welkrieg zu vermitteln: Es gab Millionen Soldaten, die für die Befreiung vom  Nationalsozialismus kämpften, verwüstete Regionen in der 3.Welt aber auch Kollaborateure mit den Nazis. Die Ausstellung wird in der Stiftung Demokratie Saarland
gezeigt (Saarbrücken, Bismarckstr.99, Mo-Do 9-16 Uhr, Fr 9-14 Uhr).
