Ausstellung vom 7.Feb. bis 31.März - "Die 3.Welt im 2. Weltkrieg"

Ausstellung und Begleitprogramm - Eine gemeinsame Veranstaltung der Stiftung Demokratie Saarland, der Aktion 3.Welt Saar und der Heinrich Böll Stiftung Saar.

Sie werden nach wie vor vergessen, verdrängt und verschwiegen. Die Geschichtsschreibung kennt sie nicht: Millionen Soldaten aus Afrika, Asien und Ozeanien haben im Zweiten Weltkrieg gekämpft, um die Welt vom deutschen und italienischen Faschismus sowie vom japanischen Größenwahn zu befreien. Alleine Indien stellte 2,5 Millionen Kolonialsoldaten und China hatte mehr Opfer zu beklagen als Deutschland, Italien und Japan zusammen. Sowohl die faschistischen Achsenmächte als auch die Alliierten rekrutierten in ihren Kolonien Hilfstruppen und Hilfsarbeiter oftmals mit Gewalt. Die Krieg führenden Mächte missbrauchten darüber hinaus Millionen Kolonisierte als Zwangsarbeiter und Zwangsprostituierte. Weite Teile der 3. Welt blieben nach Kriegsende verwüstet zuru?ck. Doch die Millionen Kriegstoten und die schweren Kriegsschäden der 3.Welt wurden vergessen, verdrängt und verschwiegen.

In der 3. Welt gab es allerdings nicht nur Opfer, sondern auch Kollaborateure der faschistischen Achsenmächte, die im Krieg an deren Seiten kämpften – von Nordafrika über Palästina, den Irak und Indien bis nach Indonesien. Das bekannteste Beispiel ist das Aufstellen der bosnisch-muslimischen Waffen-SS- Division „Handschar„ durch den Großmufti von Jerusalem, Amin Al- Husseini. Die Nazis wollten nach der Unterwerfung Osteuropas zudem ein Kolonialreich in Zentralafrika erobern und über Nordafrika in den Nahen Osten vorstoßen. Auch Hunderttausende Juden in dieser Region mussten deshalb um ihr Leben fürchten.

Mit der Ausstellung und dem Begleitprogramm lenken wir die Aufmerksamkeit auf dieses verdrängte und vergessene Kapitel der Geschichte. Wir laden herzlich zum Besuch ein.
